Coordinating all aspects of the transportation of fresh produce ensuring acceptable transport conditions, lead times and cost.

Monday to Friday 9-5; flexibility to cover weekends and after hours if necessary.

Office-based position working out of Burnac Produce Ltd., located at 80 Zenway Blvd., Vaughan, ON.

What you will do in a typical day:

  • Coordinate the import and export of perishable shipments to ensure timely pickups and deliveries within budget.
  • Make transportation arrangements with carriers in North American and abroad.
  • Track and trace shipments in transit, communicating estimated times of arrivals (ETAs) and unexpected events that may cause delays or early delivery.
  • Propose transportation routes for ocean, air and over-the-road taking into account intermodal or cross-docking alternatives.
  • Optimize route for multiple pick-ups or deliveries.
  • Maintain and update database/system and controls with accurate information.
  • Ensure all documents comply with Customs regulations and government food authorities.
  • Produce and provide timely documentation for Customs clearance to prevent delays in delivery.
  • Monitor Customs releases and clearances for inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Review and approve invoices related to freight and customs services.
  • Perform additional logistics duties as needed.
  • Comply with workplace health and safety regulations and procedures.

What you will need to succeed at Burnac: At minimum, you will need:

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education.
  • Minimum 3 years of transportation experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility with work hours/days to support the operation is essential.
  • Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong detail orientation

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience working in with perishable shipments.
  • Designations/certifications related to transportation.
