Principles

Food safety must be a priority for everyone in the food industry. Occurrences of food-borne illnesses have become far too common and are preventable with the proper procedures and co-operation between everyone in the supply chain. Food safety is a top priority at Burnac Produce and, as such, we have invested the time and resources to ensure that the highest level of care is maintained in the procurement, transportation and distribution of our products.

Our long-standing food safety program and quality standards are strictly enforced, which has earned us the reputation of being one of the most well-respected and trusted companies in the industry. Our customers can be assured that we will continue to maintain the highest level of food safety and quality standards available.

Policies

Adherence to the policies of Burnac’s food safety program is a vital component for everyone in the supply chain. We educate our suppliers about company policies and enforce their strict adherence. Our suppliers are responsible for knowing and strictly adhering to federal, state, provincial and local food safety regulations. All suppliers are aware that their non-compliance with our food safety program carries consequences, including termination of their association with Burnac.
 

Burnac’s food safety program is based on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Handling Practices (GHP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP).

Traceability

With our traceability program we can track our products from the supplier to the receiver. This program ensures that in the event of a contamination problem in the marketplace we have the ability to recall and quickly remove any questionable product from our customers’ shelves. Our traceability program is tested and, if necessary, improved each year to ensure that we have the best tracking method available.

In 2016, Burnac Produce, under to BRC version 7, received an “AA” rating.
