Zenway Distribution Centre
Our state-of-the-art facility is unmatched in Canada. Completed in 2006, our 127,000-square-foot refrigerated distribution centre employs the latest technology to receive, store and ship produce. With 15 specialized computer-controlled storage coolers, Burnac has the ability to preserve any type of produce in ideal conditions.
Our Zenway distribution centre is equipped with backup generators, which can keep the facility running indefinitely, and an air-purifying system that was developed to meet NASA specifications. The entire property is compliant with guidelines as directed by the US Homeland Security Bioterrorism Act. The facility is fully secured and monitored 24/7. These security measures allow for faster shipping and easier border crossing.
Just north of Toronto, in the city of Vaughan, the distribution centre is located at the junction of major arterial routes, perfectly positioned to efficiently serve the largest market in Canada and beyond. Burnac Produce Limited is Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) compliant and British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standards & Organic certified. These are among the highest designations available in food safety.
Shipping & Receiving
The shipping and receiving operates 24/7 and can handle a high throughput of shipments. All inbound loads are fully inspected by our in-house Quality Control department.
As part of our commitment to food quality and safety, the facility has an onsite Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) office for government inspections.
We employ the most up-to-date material-handling equipment designed specifically for various produce.
Our leading-edge technology incorporates computer-controlled ripening of bananas and tomatoes. The product is placed in a sealed environment, where forced air, ethylene gases, temperature and humidity controls promote the natural ripening process.
Our storage facility includes 15 specialized storage coolers, each equipped with unique temperature and humidity controls to ensure product shelf life. Each storage room is between 5,000-10,000 square feet, with large three-level rock-back racking.
Coolers are sealed from each other to prevent cross-contamination and ozone technology is used to kill airborne mould and pathogens in cold storage.
